HOCKEY TASMANIA Online

Tasmania played a hard fought game against Queensland, with very few chances for either side.  The difference was a penalty corner conversion to Prue Eiser for Queensland early in the first half, which gave Queensland the 1-0 victory.

Another solid performance from the TAS U21 Women’s Hockey Team saw them come away with a 4 – 0 win over home side South Australia.

Following selection trials, the following players have been named in Hockey Tasmania’s U15 Men’s Team to compete in the Australian U15 Men’s Championship in Perth from 4 – 13 October, 2007. The team will be coached by Jeremy Stebbings  and Dominic Gill has been appointed as team manager. 

Kookaburra Sport have increased their strong support of hockey in this country with a new deal that will see them become the official equipment provider for Hook in2 Hockey, Hockey Australia's national recruitment program.

TAS started the U21 Women’s Championship with a 2 – 0 win over ACT.

Hockey Tasmania selectors have named the following players in State U15 squads, with State teams to be announced following further trials.
  
The State U15 Girls' Team Coach is Ilene Carr and Team Manager is Jenny Geeves. The State Under 15 Boys' Team Coach is Jeremy Stebbings and Team Manager is Dominic Gill.

The Hockey community will be delighted to see that Fox Sports will be televising world hockey in July and August - be on the lookout for our Tasmanians stars - Matthew Wells, David Guest and Eddie Ockenden - when they play for Australia.

The Hockey Tasmania Junior Intrastate Series was held at St Leonards, Launceston over the long weekend of 9-11 June.This is a major event on the Hockey Tasmania calendar and incorporates a highly successful officiating development program for junior umpires, which is currently sponsored by Eyelines Tasmania.Veteran Men also competed in an annual intrastate series - Division One teams played for The Examiner Cup and Division Two teams played for The Robert Kidd (Buddha) Kidd Trophy

Following selection trials, the following players have been named in the SSA U16 Schoolboys Team to play in the SSA Schoolboys Championship in Melbourne from 4 – 11 August, 2007. Chris Clark has been appointed Team Coach and Simon Clark has been appointed Team Manager.

Following selection trials, the following players have been named in the U16 Girls' Team to compete in School Sport Australia’s U16 Schoolgirls Championship in Melbourne from 4 – 11 August 2007.

The Hockeyroos' teams for the six test series between Australia and Japan have been announced, with national coach, Frank Murray, giving everyone an opportunity to push for selection for the Olympic qualifiers in September.
