The Australian Hockey League (AHL) was launched today in Brisbane with eight state representatives there to help promote the Fast 'n' Furious - AHL 2007 season.

The launch took place in the steamy Brisbane conditions, fitting considering this year's AHL looms as one of the most exciting in recent history as states vie for the national title, while players fight for a spot in the national team ahead of next year's Olympics.

The younger generation of Kookaburras have inspired a thrilling win over the Netherlands in Canberra on Sunday with three debutants and three more with less than twelve games experience all helping Australia to a 5-4 win.

National coach, Barry Dancer, has cast a wide net for the four-test series against Holland starting on Sunday, with four players to make their international debut in the series.

The Hockeyroos' Champions Trophy campaign ran out of puff today as the exhausted team battled valiantly but went down 2-0 to Germany in the play-off for third.

Argentina have beaten Australia for the second final spot and will now face the Netherlands in tomorrow's final, while the Hockeyroos will play Germany for third place.

The Hockeyroos have lost their first game of the Champions Trophy, going down 1-0 to the Netherlands in a repeat of last year's World Cup final.

The Hockeyroos have ended the second day of the Champions Trophy in a strong position, winning their second game of the tournament after coming from behind to down Germany 2-1.

The Hockeyroos have opened their Champions Trophy campaign with a 3-0 win over Japan in Quilmes, Argentina this morning.

Hockey Australia is launching all new HockeyEd Accreditation Training Programs in 2007.

The new HockeyEd Training Programs will be competency based and are designed to reflect the modern game and the needs of the participants.
All accredited coaches and umpires must ensure their contact details are up-to-date on HockeyNet in order to receive their ‘new accreditation’ under the revised structure, which will be sent out in early 2007.

The 15th BDO Champions Trophy will be held in Quilmes, Argentina from 13 – 21 January, with the top six nations in the world competing. As the International Federation of Hockey’s (FIH) premier annual event, the six participating countries in 2007 are the Netherlands, Australia, Argentina, Spain, Japan and Germany.
The participating teams face an exceptionally tough tournament combining the pressure of facing the world's very best teams each competition day. Six games in nine days ensures the gold medal-winning team of the BDO Champions Trophy will be a worthy winner.
