Despite today's 0 - 0 draw with ladder leader WA, Tasmania consolidated its position in the top four at the U18 Women's Championship being conducted in Adelaide.

Tasmania has made a solid start to the national under-18 girls' hockey championships in Adelaide and is second after three games

Following today's 2 - 1 win against QLD, the U18 Women's team remain in 2nd spot, only 2 points behind ladder leader, WA.

Tasmania drew 1 - 1 with South Australia, unable to prevent SA scoring in the last ten minutes to level the scores.  TAS scored through a PC conversion to Emily Wilson in the 12th minute, and despite having 5 penalty corners to South Australia's one, the lone conversion was Tasmania's only score.

Hockey Tasmania will welcome sixteen teams to Hobart in the first week in May to compete in a 3-Test Series between Australia and New Zealand. The women's national veterans teams will compete in four age groups and, for the first time, men's teams will also compete in four age groups, previously having only fielded teams in two age groups.

The annual MIA Cup, held at the Tasmanian Hockey Centre last Saturday, has been another resounding success. The event has become a significant fundraiser for our AHL teams, the MIA Tassie Tigers and Wrest Point Van Demons (this year raising about $2,000) but has also proven to be a great pre-season warm-up event for southern clubs.

The Wrest Point Van Demons capped off a big weekend with a 5-2 win against the Presidents XI on Sunday, with goals from Lottie White , Jackie Jones (2), Ashley Robertson and Jess Tremayne.

The U18 Women's team played a strong game to defeat ACT 2 - 1 in the opening match of the Australian U18 Women's Championship being played in Adelaide.
