Day 4 at the Australian championship saw Queensland and Tasmania separated at the head of the table by goal difference going head to head. Both teams contained a number of talented juniors who have recently competed in the Australian Hockey League.
It was a tough match with Tasmania perhaps taking it a little easy on their opponents early in the match which allowed Queensland to score half way through the first half from a left post tap in.
Tasmania will regret the similar chances it missed which would have equalised the match. Despite more penalty corners than Qld in the match Tasmania was not able to capitalise on its variations. Tasmanian Coach Ilene Carr said the team should learn from this disappointment and be much tougher in its other games.
In other results NT lost to Victoria 4-1, Sa defeated ACT 2-1 with WA and NSW playing a 2 all draw. Tasmania plays WA tomorrow.
