New Coaches and Umpires can now learn online!

By Alison Monk [10 Nov 2008]

Hockey Australia has released new online training programs for Community andBeginner coaches and umpires. The HockeyEd training programs have been developed to provide coaches and umpires with a learning, education and resource tool that can be applied within the hockey environment.

A major benefit of the online programs is that coaches and umpires can complete the programs in their own time, at home or an evening at their hockey association/club via a DVD presentation.

About the HockeyEd online programs
The new HockeyEd umpire and coach training programs are competency based and are designed to reflect the modern game and the needs of hockey participants. There are three components to the online programs, as follows:
1) Learning An educational presentation covering the program competencies.
2)
Applied Learning – A series of interactive videos and questions to complete.
3)
Practical A practical competency checklist to download and take to your practical evaluation.

Becoming accredited
The new programs continue to operate within the Australian Sports Commission’s National Officiating Accreditation Scheme (NOAS) and National Coaching Accreditation Scheme (NCAS), and replace the current coach and umpire ‘courses’.

How to access all HockeyEd programs
Information and registration to all levels of the coach and umpire accreditation; namely Community, Beginner, Development, Advanced and High Performance Coach or National Umpire is available on the Hockey Australia website at www.hockey.org.au under the HockeyEd section.
