Coach education

By Alison Monk [24 Feb 2007]
Congratulations to Hockey Tasmania Director of Coaching, Greg Peart, on successfully regaining NCAS Level 2 coaching accreditation. Greg was an experienced, accredited level 2 senior state coach many years ago and has more recently been involved in coaching state veteran women, bringing the State 35 Team to a playoff in the Grand Final for the past three years.

There is greater emphasis now being placed on coach education, and the requirement that coaches of representative teams be accredited.

Through a process involving Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), completion of on-line training of General Principles and practical assessment of current practices, Greg has regained his Level 2 status. In the process of doing this Greg has become familiar with current coaching course requirements and the many coaching resources that are available now.

He is keen to assist others who may also have extensive coaching experience but no formal accreditation, and will also be assisting with arrangements to conduct coaching courses for new coaches.

Attached are two coaching articles that may be of interest to players as well as coaches - one on The Press, prepared by Greg as part of his Level 2 accreditation; the other contains some general coaching points on Skill Development.
