U13 Boys National Championship Venue Change

By Georgia Cruickshank [Wednesday, January 11, 2012]

The U13 Boys National Championship to be played in Lithgow from the 29th Set - 6th Oct 2012 has been moved to Shoalhaven, North Nowra, NSW due to the clashing of this event with the Bathurst 1000.

For further explanation of this relocation please read full story.

Late last year Hockey NSW was notified that “The Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000” will be celebrating 50 years of Racing from 4-7th October 2012. With this event being held a very short distance away from our proposed Championships venue in Lithgow, this has caused many issues for transport and accommodation options for the participating hockey teams and supporters.

Having gone through a detailed tender process for the hosting rights to this event, we regret the need to remove the event from one our regional Associations, Lithgow Hockey Association.  However, a number of significant factors have contributed to our decision to relocate the Championships.

We have consulted with the other Associations that expressed an interest in hosting the event, along with the relevant Local Government bodies and will be relocating the 2012 U13 Boys Australian Championships to Nowra, hosted by the Shoalhaven Hockey Association.  Nowra is located 160km from Sydney; 150km from Mascot Airport and 200km from Canberra.
