The SmokeFree WA Diamonds have won back-to-back AHL titles after defeating the Queensland Scorchers 2-1 in Brisbane today.

The Queensland Scorchers and SmokeFree WA Diamonds will do battle for the third year in a row in the Fast 'n' Furious AHL final after both teams won their semi finals in Brisbane today.

Day three of the Fast 'n' Furious AHL has ended with little movement on the points table, although it threatened to change dramatically after game one.

With the Victoria Vipers wanting a win to leapfrog the NSW Arrows into third place they came up against a Paspaley Territory Pearls outfit intent on ensuring that didn't happen, the Pearls dominating the match and coming away with a 5-2 win.

That meant that the Strikers had the opportunity to sneak into fourth place if they beat the Wrest Point Van Demons by four goals or more. It proved too hard for Canberra, losing in penalty strokes.

Tasmanian trio Matthew Wells, David Guest and Eddie Ockenden have retained their places in the Australian men’s hockey team for the Azlan Shah tournament in Malaysia next month.

The Fast 'n' Furious AHL Finals Week ended day two with the top four teams decided, but not their order.

With one round remaining the Queensland Scorchers, SmokeFree WA Diamonds, NSW Arrows and Victoria Vipers are all through to Saturday's semi-finals, however, their final position and semi-final opponents are yet to be decided with the Scorchers and Diamonds vying for top spot, while the Arrows and Vipers are battling it out for positions three and four.
